Palouse Grain Elevator in Infrared
A true infrared closeup view of the Palouse with a grain elevator in the distance looking northwest from Steptoe Butte. Sigma camera owners can remove the infrared filter found on most digital cameras in the field. With this filter removed and a red filter attached to the camera, I can photograph infrared light beyond human vision, up to 1100 nM in wavelength. I then convert the “capture” into a very stark black and white image with deep skies and sharp lines. In this image I took the base picture and split toned it before softening the lines with an oil paint filter.
